Gwenneth Morgan's History of the World Reflected on Christianity

People might read my "History of the World" and think that I must hate Christians. Nothing could be further from the truth.

I know many Christians truly revere Jesus Christ and try, in their way, to emulate him. I don't think this is a bad thing. In the words of King Missile, "Jesus was way cool."

I believe Christ was one of the greatest men who ever lived. He obviously reached a level of consciousness that many have tried to achieve without success. But, he never once said he was the only one who could ever be like him. He said we are ALL children of God. He was a shining example of what Man could be, if only they believed it was possible. I think it would sadden him to know so many pray to him to make their lives better instead of going within to find the strength and courage to do it for themselves.

Christianity, on the other hand, is a diffierent story. Since I believe that it was created out of an intense need for domination and control, I cannot find much good in it. The Crusades alone, Christianity's first act, are enough for me write the founding fathers of this longstanding institution off as a bunch of lunatics. These were the biggest crimes ever committed against humanity, far worse than what even Hitler did!

And there is still so much that just doesn't adhere to our God given common sense. How does a perfect God create imperfect creatures? How can a woman be of lesser value in the eyes of God? Is it possible that Christ would really object to same sex marriages after a lifetime spent preaching the value of love?

My philosophy embraces people of all faiths who respect and appreciate the needs, concerns and differences of all. In my opinon, the machine that is "Christianity" does not do this. It is part of the old way.
